When WW II broke out, Washington County was uniquely positioned to play a major role in ensuring victory. Local industries were converted to wartime production and many residents signed up for military service. Citizens of all ages enthusiastically participated in home front activities such as collecting aluminum cans and paper, planting victory gardens, and selling and buying war bonds. Following the war and through the 1950s, Washington County experienced baby and housing booms gradually returned to the pleasures and trials of normal life. These memorable years come to life in the full-length film, compiled from home movies, historic films footage, and photos from the archives of the Washington County Historical Society.
