On Saturday, May 22nd, join the Washington County Historical Society and Jonathan Hager House Museum for a trip back in time!In 1739, Jonathan Hager purchased a large tract of land in present-day City Park, on which he built a house that doubled as a fort and trading post. In 1762, Jonathan Hager founded the town of Elizabethtowne, which he named for his wife, Elizabeth. By the early 1770s, the area’s large forests, fertile land, and plentiful natural resources had attracted droves of farmers, craftsmen, and tradesmen to Elizabethtowne.
