Family Workshop: Fraktur Art

August 14 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Indulge your inner artist!

This month’s activity is fraktur art! In the 1730s and 40s, many German immigrants began to settle in the area. Fraktur art was heavily Germanic, and was done primarily in ink or watercolor. Frakturs were often done to commemorate births, baptisms, and marriages. Common artistic motifs in Fraktur art included birds, hearts, and tulips.

Each family workshop is held open-house style. This craft typically takes 30 minutes to complete, so feel free to drop by at any point during the session.
