Culture & Cocktails: Washington County’s Original Settlers
November 11 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The land on which Washington County is situated was originally settled by various Native American tribes, including the Delaware and Catawba. Drawn to the area by plentiful hunting and fishing opportunities, the members of these often migratory tribes built their homes near lakes, rivers, and streams, and navigated the county’s many waterways in canoes made of hollowed-out logs or bark from local beech, maple, and oak trees.
On Friday November 11th, join us in welcoming Nancy Geasey for an exploration into the history of Native Americans in the area. The featured cocktail will be: The Cranberry Rosemary Cocktail! Combining a tart cranberry flavor with the woodsy aroma of rosemary, cranberries were a Native American superfood!
Culture & Cocktails 2022 has been made possible by the generous support of the James and Mary Schurz Foundation.
